UrT will need mostly cpu power I think the sweet spot is somewhere between 2-3Ghz
I think it would run fine on 2.7Ghz but can’t say it for sure it’s only a feeling. 🙂

I’m interested to hear the results from other players, too.

I’m running:
1.79Ghz Amd Turion
Ati radeon xpress200
1Gb ram

fps between 15-125

So my system is to slow.

This is a interesting question…
I run URT at 40+ fps’s with 800×600 resolution, and the other settings on medium i think [i didnt changed them].
The weird thing is,URT “reads” my CPU as a P III .

I have a 2.4 ghz celeron,1.5 gb ram and a 128 geforce 128 mb.
I can run the game at 1024×768,all settings on high,at same FPS.
The only thing is,i have lagspikes when in fire fight.
And of course, when watching at some trees, like the ones in Uptown or Streets.
Wich is more or less imposible to snipe from those places. But its ok if you have an auto.

My point is,dont get a PC just for URT.Its pointless.
If money is not a problem, obviously, you should go for a quad core with a gtx 480,and 4 gb ram.
It should be enough for 1 year or so.

Or,yet again,if money isnt a problem, find a way to support the URT dev’s to make Urban Terror playable on a console, like xbox 360.

I hear you man. There was a time that i just wanted a computer that could run UrT smoothly without fps drops so i wasted about 130€ on 2 new graphic cards(this was 2 years ago), and i still got about 60fps wich is good, but not good enough for me, so i eventually stopped caring, i always had computer problems, i bought my pc by pieces and trying to find the right ones for UrT is just a waste of time and cash.
Anyways, now i have a 3.20Ghz dual core cpu with 2500mb of ram and an ATI Radeon HD 3600 with 1024mb and to tell you the truth i don’t actually know if Urban Terror runs properly, i only play TS and most of the times i have 100~125fps
My advice to you is; don’t buy anything, i mean UrT is a great game but there’s alot of other games out there and you can always try mitsubishi’s .exe to see if UrT runs better.
Sorry if i couldn’t help you, good luck

I have run UrT on a number of systems over the years. My current machine runs UrT pretty well. I get 68 (capped at 65) at 1680×1050, full antialiasing, full anistropic (and I mean solid, unwavering FPS). I can take that to around 120FPS uncapped, but that can get a little choppy. This is a three year old computer I built myself. I have upgraded the RAM and video adapter since purchasing the components:
Specs:
– 2.13GHz C2D.
– AB9Pro mainboard.
– GeForce 9600GT 512MB (PCI-E 16x) running at 675MHz (Upgraded from GeForce 7900GS which also ran the game very well).
– 4GB DDR2 800 (Upgraded from 2GB)
– Ubuntu 10.04 (Ultimate Edition 2.7)
And, because it might matter:
– 30x3Mbps cable connection that exceeds advertised bandwidth >:)
Original purchase cost was about $800.00.

But the OS was free!
Hope that helps…

Seriously i have 3 years old laptop and i could have 123-125 fps but… I have vertical sync on which causes my fps to drop in 60

O_O i bet that some people would do fine with 60 fps since they dont have logic “omg 120 is twice as big as 60” the thruth is… Its not. I think even nexu have to say that its not twice as good. Maybe some see difference. But its not double effect. Only good thing is that you get more packets but thats it  i hardly get packet loss so…

My specs (every cool factor)

Amd athlon 1.9 2x mobile technology.

4gb ddr2 733 mhz

Nvidia geforce 8600m gs. (1280 mb own dedicated memory and 1500mb shared. 16 gpu’s i cant use nvidia’s physix enviroment engine ;( because it requires min 32 gpu’s. Ofcourse pixel shader 3.1 version. I dont know mhz count but i think its 733 or 600 something )

32x speed dvd/cd rw drive

270 gb overall hdd (i have two hdd’s)

Two high definion speakers (sound quality is great !!!) with its own small subwoofer (indeed, its under my laptop)

17″ 1440×90 resolution. (TFT i supose)

Wlan, wirefire, 3 usb’s, lan, normal phone network (same like behind adsl where you put that small phone cable) and somekind of lock (accesory which i can buy from store) ofcourse bluetooth and integrated 1.3 megapixel cam and microphone.

Now go there and build full clone if you want. I can also run rainbow six vegas 2 with medium graphics with 40-60 fps.
(resolution 800×600, antialiasing level 4, shadow quality medium, motionblur medium, no vertical sync. Texture quality cant be changed.) i think it was a beast back 2007  also people have said they get with samekind of rig 70-90 fps on cod 4 (medium). I dont know myself.

This laptop cost 700 euros back then and honestly i think it havent lost much of the prize. Since modern computers might have 2.1 ghz dual but have crappy intel videocard. And led monitors.

I never liked intel videocards nor processors. Or ati randeon… Every review i checked geforce got better game speed always.

I i think im lucky because i have a good laptop

Assuming that vague analogy refers to 60Hz monitors, it’s not ‘twice’ in visual latency considerations but it has benefits [aside from networking, input, or even audio latency improvements].

PS. You inflict local latencies with vsync. It’s mainly for visual stability (avoiding Tearing). For ultimate performance it should be off. For competitive considerations it’s not necessarily best to be off since visual stability may make some players or cases to have better benefits than visual latency improvements [though I would be surprised if that’s the case at least in the majority of cases; considering it also inflicts other types of latencies as a byproduct, it strengthens this notion].

When using Vsync enable, one should also atleast enable Triple Buffering; to partially reduce the higher latency effect.

See also http://www.anandtech.com/show/2794

Enable Triple Buffering can be found in NVIDIA Control Panel, ATI Catalyst-CC and Intel Graphics Setting under 3D. This option is for OpenGL applications.
For Direct3D titles, there is nHancer and RadeonPro to force Triple Buffering for D3D applications.

Low fps at low video resolutions (which 800×600 belongs to these days), usually indicate CPU bottleneck unless your GPU device is very weak (think onboard graphics level performances).

Sounds like a software/configuration problem

GTX480 is such an overkill for UrT. On a AMD HD4870, UrT barely uses 35% of the GPU capacity (@ 1680×1050 8xAA/16xAF) – That is already using 27’s VBO implementation.
And not just any quad core will do for the GTX480, a ‘weak’ quad core such as Athlon II X4 will cause CPU bottleneck with GTX480 running new titles at max settings using high resolutions.

Videocard recommendation largely depends on game titles and the resolutions one is planning to play on; which depends on the output display device used. For 1920×1080 and beyond, yes the GTX480 would serve well. But for 1680×1050 and below, the bang-for-bucks GTX460 will do the job perfectly fine for any old and most new PC-gaming titles.

…LOL, getting UrT on a console such as X360 in theory sounds fun. But in reality you will, imo, damage this community by splitting it up in 2 camps: The Xbox-live players and the rest of the players on PC – Windows, Linux, MacOSX.
Also porting UrT to console would most likely require UrT gameplay (adapt to controller only based layout) to change so profoundly that it would lose much of it’s charm.

And frankly i have my doubt that the XBOX audience is a suitable market for Q3A paced FPS games; those are mostly in the PC sector – with keyboard and mouse input.

Yes. A main factor though that makes me loathe vsync is the “gliding’ mouse feel; at least in this system it does not go away with any such setting. I suspect it differs according to system (hardware/drivers).

ye but problem is for some reason my settings are ALWAYS reseted after i save them in nvidia panel. i dont know vsync and 60 fps are maybe cool and thats why i use em  one small itty bitty tiny miny change wont increase my ratio. same with picmic and other shit >.<
